Lucia Dohrmann and Nicole Clift, “Soft Squares”
12 July – 4 August 2019
Soft Squares is a show of new works by Lucia Dohrmann and Nicole Clift. Weaving together languages of drawing, painting and textiles, Soft Squares is a contemplation on lines and the colour grey, both on the chromatic and achromatic spectrums. Other spectrums their work inhabits include the technological and the handmade, the mesmeric nature of patterns and the complexity of algorithms, and the rigour of manual processes and the spontaneity of the studio. By amplifying the labourious and time-intensive nature of manual processes, the works in Soft Squares reveal their handmade quality over time.
To be opened by Mary-Jean Richardson, Head of Painting at Adelaide Central School of Art, with exhibition text by Andrew Purvis, Curator at Adelaide Central Gallery.
Exhibition opening: 12th July 2019 6pm
