Brianna Fantis
25th February 2022
DEEP DIVE uses painting to celebrate and analyse the Self and the personal portrait. Using Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung’s MAP OF THE SOUL theory of the mind, abstract mark-making and illusion come together to explore the human psyche and provide a safe space for reflection. Classic spiral motifs help create a ‘tunnel vision’ for the audience.’
In 2020, Brianna Fantis graduated from the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Arts), with Flinders University and AC ARTS TAFE SA, receiving a Chancellor’s Letter of Commendation for her efforts.
In May 2021, Brianna showcased her debut solo exhibition DIALOGUE interstate, less than six months after graduating, at Brunswick Street Gallery in Melbourne, supported by Helpmann Academy. She was a finalist in the RSASA portrait prize twice, and in 2019 received a scholarship to study in northern Mongolia with Nomad Science Mongolia, to provide an artist’s perspective to archaeological practices. Brianna was a student recipient of Flinders University’s Revitalisation initiative, to brighten up their Sturt Campus with colourful murals. She is a current studio member of Floating Goose Studios.
Exhibition dates: 25th February – 13th March
