“Candy explores feminine youth, growing up and the acceptance of loneliness within the comfort of the bedroom. The bedroom offers a safe space for self-discovery and experimentation of self- beautification, often in the company of a childhood pet. A snapshot of complex moments, the need to be needed. This body of work establishes emotions through the use of watercolour with an emphasis on companionship and loneliness. Clashing imagery of girlhood and boyhood and the structure of gender within domestic and public places.”
