Luke Thurgate, “Face Off”

Face Off is an exhibition of erasable wall drawings based on the urban myth of Newcastle’s mid-twentieth century ‘Yellow Socks Gang’. The works reference the sensationalist media reporting of the period which cultivated the fiction of a rampant group of perverts terrorising innocent Novocastrians.
